IG-541 is a clean, inert gas suppression agent that suppresses fire through a physical mechanism. It is a precisely blended mixture of three naturally occurring atmospheric gases:
Nitrogen (N₂): 52%
Argon (Ar): 40%
Carbon Dioxide (CO₂): 8%
This agent is recognized globally as a safe and highly reliable solution for protecting high-value and mission-critical assets.
Inherently Safe for Occupants:
Upon discharge, it lowers the oxygen concentration in the protected enclosure from 21% to the designed suppression level (typically between 12.5% and 14%). This level is breathable and supports life, similar to the air at a high altitude, but effectively suppresses combustion.
The inclusion of CO₂ (8%) is critical as it stimulates breathing and prevents the risk of hypoxia in the oxygen-reduced atmosphere.
Zero Environmental Impact:
Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) = 0
Global Warming Potential (GWP) = 0
Atmospheric Lifetime = 0
Composed of natural gases, it has no negative impact on the atmosphere.
Clean and Non-Damaging:
Suppression is purely physical. The agent does not undergo any chemical decomposition during discharge.
No residue is left behind, ensuring no damage to sensitive electronics, server hardware, historical documents, or valuable artwork.
Highly Effective and Reliable:
Achieves the design concentration typically within 60 seconds, ensuring rapid fire knockdown.
Simple system architecture with robust components, ensuring ease of maintenance and high reliability.
IG-541 operates on the principle of oxygen dilution (physical suppression).
When a fire is detected, the system is activated, and the IG-541 agent is discharged into the protected hazard. It works by introducing a sufficient quantity of inert gas to reduce the oxygen concentration below the level that supports combustion (typically below 15%). At the design concentration, the atmosphere will not support a flame, but remains safe for occupied spaces for a short period, allowing for safe evacuation.
Crucially: IG-541 is chemically inert and does not interfere with the fire's chemical chain reaction.
