1. System Overview

FK-5-1-12 (Perfluorohexanone) is one of the most widely used clean agent fire extinguishing media in the international market today. Its extinguishing mechanism is primarily based on physical heat absorption, and it exhibits extremely high chemical stability along with excellent environmental characteristics. FK-5-1-12 is non-conductive and non-corrosive, and it does not cause damage to precision equipment. After discharge, it vaporizes rapidly and leaves no residue, making it a globally recommended, environmentally friendly clean-agent fire suppression solution for high-end applications.

In stored-pressure gas fire suppression systems, the suppression agent (e.g., FK-5-1-12 ) and the driving gas (nitrogen) are stored together in the same cylinder. Upon detection of a fire, the suppression agent is discharged into the protected enclosure via a distribution network, propelled by the internal pressure from the nitrogen gas.

Compared with pre-engineered (non-piped) systems, a piped stored-pressure FK-5-1-12  system is capable of protecting multiple hazard areas through a single system by utilizing a piping network and selector valves. This design enhances system flexibility, improves suppression efficiency, and reduces overall equipment configuration costs.

2. Key Advantages

Safe, Non-Toxic, and Personnel-Friendly

FK-5-1-12 offers a high margin of safety and allows short-term human exposure at design concentration without adverse effects. It does not generate corrosive or hazardous by-products after discharge, enabling occupants to evacuate quickly and safely.

Ultra-Low Environmental Impact

  • ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) = 0

  • GWP (Global Warming Potential) ≈ 1, one of the lowest among all clean agents

  • Atmospheric lifetime of approximately 5 days, making it the most environmentally benign fire-extinguishing chemical currently available in the international market.

Clean and Residue‑Free:

  • No powder or liquid residue after discharge; no contamination of equipment.

  • Ideal for environments requiring high cleanliness such as data centers, archives, and laboratories.

High Suppression Efficiency

  • Discharge time ≤ 10 seconds, achieving suppression concentration within a very short period.

  • Utilizes the total flooding method, capable of rapidly suppression Class A, Class B, and electrical fires.

Mature and Reliable System

  • Well-established technical standards.

  • Compact equipment configuration, strong system interlocks, and simplified maintenance and management.

3. How It Works

The extinguishing mechanism of FK-5-1-12 is a combined process of heat absorption and interruption of the combustion chain reaction.

When a fire occurs, the suppression control system receives the alarm signal and actuates the selector valve and the container valve, releasing the agent rapidly through the distribution piping into the protected area.

FK-5-1-12 extinguishes fire through the following mechanisms:

• Absorbs a large amount of heat, rapidly reducing flame temperature.

• Interrupts the combustion chain reaction, preventing further flame propagation.

• Provides slight oxygen dilution, enhancing the overall extinguishing performance.

With its extremely rapid dispersion characteristics, the agent can reach the design extinguishing concentration within seconds, ensuring a fast, safe, and complete clean-agent suppression effect..
